Alan Cunin

Student at Epitech, captain of the AWS Cloud Club, head of an esports association. I learn by building — and I don't sleep much when there's a hackathon on.

01 The record

From 2 min 20 to 10 seconds.

Strasbourg, 18 March 2026. The AWS Clash of Agents: eleven hours to get AI agents collaborating around an online pet shop. My first prototype answered in 2 min 20. Unacceptable. I spent the night reworking every process by hand.

By morning: 10 s. The organisers thought it was an anomaly and audited my code. Nothing to report. First prize, handed over by the CTO of AWS France, and an international record. It's not genius, it's sheer persistence.

02 What drives me

Four obsessions, a single brain.

  1. 01

    The cloud, as a community

Captain of the AWS Cloud Club Mulhouse since 2025. I run workshops on the AWS ecosystem and put together talks with Developer Advocates. Captain Silver distinction in 2026.

    Hackathons

Winner of the Nuit de l'info, BaselHack 2024 and 2025 with Team NFT, Epitech Game Jams, CARE Alsace award at the Hacking Health Camp with VisiSurg. One sleepless night, one team, one real problem: my favourite format.

  3. 03

    Esports, behind the scenes

Head of BSK Esport in Besançon since 2022. Running the association, live broadcast production, a real-time data acquisition tool, events like Ici C'est Besac, the Bug Days or tournaments in public libraries.

    Passing it on

Teaching assistant at Epitech since 2025: mentoring on projects, designing modules. Before that, treasurer of the student union and founder of the gaming club. Explaining is the best way to check that you've understood.

01

Understand before copying

If I can't explain it to a first-year student, I haven't understood it.

02

Ship, then polish

Something that runs at 3 a.m. beats a perfect plan at 9 a.m. Then we optimise.

03

Off screen

Metal and rock, volunteering, organising events. And a console when there's time left.

03 The pieces

Three things I've built.

Hacking Health Camp · Strasbourg · 2026

VisiSurg

Making a surgical report understandable by the patient who went through it.

One weekend with caregivers and designers. The surgical report is translated into a 3D visualisation of the procedure, and a RAG chatbot answers the patient's questions relying solely on their own medical record. CARE Alsace award at the finish line.

ccprofile

Claude Code plugin and skill profiles, per project, versioned in the repository.

Instead of enabling everything globally, you define profiles (web, backend, mobile…) and apply them project by project. Skills are copied into the repository, plugins written to the committed config: any teammate or cloud container gets the right tooling without installing anything. Zero dependencies, Windows / macOS / Linux, drift detection included.

discord-kernel

The “framework” half of a Discord bot, without the bot.

Typed command DSL, guards (permissions, roles, cooldowns), interaction routing, persistent components, i18n that refuses to start on a duplicate key. The kernel only knows discord.js: database, logger and scheduler are ports the application implements. Clean Architecture enforced by the very fact of being a package.

04 The journey

Technique can be learned. Perseverance is cultivated.

1st prize worldwide AWS Clash of Agents, Strasbourg

Eleven hours, one night, one record. Then the CARE Alsace award at the Hacking Health Camp with VisiSurg, and Anthropic's Claude Code in Action certification the same year.

Shall we talk?

A hackathon to set up, an AWS talk, a question about Epitech, a project that obsesses you too: write to me, I reply fast.

A few lines are enough. I reply fast.
